Monster box sculptures by Room 4

We have been finding lots of ways to reuse some of our waste and rubbish.  Cereal boxes make wonderful monster box sculptures.

We are also learning to write captions to go with photos and have used a new app to take photos and write accompanying captions.

" It took us a very long time to make our monster box sculptures."

"We used glue, bit and bobs, lolly wrappers and paper. We painted the paper with colourful paint." By Dylan

"We put paper on the boxes, then we painted them. We decorated them."
by Chloe

Look out for the finished products at our learning expo.

From the 22nd of September to the 5th of October is The Great Kereru (Wood Pigeon) Count. This is a great opportunity for us to carry on our sustainability focus over the holidays. All they have to is keep a eye out for Kereru and head online to add a sighting of one to the count. Each day there is spot prizes and there is even a app to make it easier to add your sighting.

How Does Oil Affect Birds

As part of our Sustainability Inquiry, we have been learning about the Rena Oil Spill and how it affected the people, environment and wildlife of the Bay of Plenty. After seeing all the birds affected by the oil, we created a science experiment to find out - How Does Oil Affect birds?

We hope you enjoy it.
